General Description:


The Shipping-Receiving Personnel are to load and unload trucks in a safe and timely manner while complying with all company rules and regulations. Assignments are received in the form of written instructions through the schedule board and the plant factory order. Work methods and procedures are determined by company policy thru the SPI manual. On the job training will be provided that meets these specification and requirements and the employee is expected to maintain these standards after completion of training period.


Job Responsibilities and Tasks:


Essential Functions:

  • Basic knowledge of shipping and receiving practices

Knowledge of:

  • Job related materials.
  • The tools, materials, methods, and standard practices of the shipping/receiving process.
  • The hazards and safety precautions of operating moving equipment.

Ability to:

  • Bring trucks into the building for loading and or unloading safely and in an orderly fashion.
  • Check all paperwork and make sure it is correct for receiving the roll body into the system for regrind or recover.
  • Take photos of roll as received on the truck prior to unloading.
  • Must learn to operate the overhead cranes and use the proper cables or straps according to the load requirements.
  • Must be able to read a diameter tape and a carpenter’s tape for accurate measurements of rolls as received.
  • Learn to use the receiving form and fill in all blanks with the proper receiving information. Photo documentation necessary.
  • Check roll serial number of the roll and confirm on all paperwork. Assign a new serial number if necessary.
  • Interact with customer service for special needs or requirements for our customer base.
  • Identify any damage or concerns with an incoming roll and accurately describe and report these conditions or potential issues.
  • Properly weigh all rolls and record accurate weight on the incoming report and the roll body.
  • Load/unload LTL’s at dock as required.
  • Receive UPS/Fed Ex packages
  • Inspect for damaged goods in above shipments. Note as such if found.
  • Follow all safety rules and guidelines.
  • Properly inspect and prepare rolls to be returned to our customers. Outgoing shipping documentation. Photos taken.
  • Stage all rolls in the proper areas.( example finish rolls in the finished roll area)
  • Report any missing or broken parts as received.
  • Be flexible for overtime and weekend work as required.
  • People skills and clear communication is a must, being cordial and polite.
  • Report any issues to supervision as they happen or occur during your assigned shift.

Additional Requirements:

  • Maintain clean and safe work area.
  • Perform any other tasks as required by supervision
  • Overtime hours may be required.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds or standing and /or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

  • Experience: On the job training will be provided..
