Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Department: 3600 – Hourly Material Handling
Location: Ice Industries Bowling Green 333 Van Camp Road Bowling Green, OH 43402

General Job Function:
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for checking in materials, labeling coils, loading outbound materials, and unloading coil trucks safely and timely.

Job Duties:
  • Unload incoming metal coils and all other raw materials from trucks, verifying that packing tickets and listed items correspond correctly before unloading.
  • Check thickness, width, and visual characteristics of material per quality standards; reject coils as needed.
  • Perform computer and inventory transactions through the company ERP System.
  • Move, tag, and store materials in proper locations, stacking them safely and properly
  • Load outbound trucks for shipments and accurately record load lists
  • Complete and maintain all required documentation.
  • Verifies and documents all functions of the equipment and vehicle are in safe working condition before the beginning of the shift, including checking fluids and safety devices.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned, including projects or assignments to support the Plant.

Working Conditions:
  • The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is a safety-sensitive position working directly with machinery and equipment in a manufacturing facility. Frequent exposure to a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment where ambient air temperature can occasionally exceed outside air temperature.
  • Must be able to sit and view a computer screen for extended periods.
  • Must be able to bend at the waist and knees, walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Must lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds when necessary.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl under or over, and frequently climb.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be available to work overtime, including weekends, to meet the organization's needs.
Required Education, Experience & Skills:
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1-3 years of experience in inventory control or shipping & receiving in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Two years of experience entering transactions with Epicor or similar ERP system experience
  • Must be computer literate and proficient with Windows and MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work with and communicate (verbal and written) effectively with vendors and within all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to self-motivate, problem-solve, and work in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide inches and pounds using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to complete written, oral, or diagram instructions.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid forklift operator’s license issued by the Company.
