Purpose (e.g., key reason why the organization requires this role, why the role exists):
The Security/Shipping Operator is an important role as the first point of contact at the plant for all shipping/receiving, visitors, regulatory inspectors and plant employees. Security/Shipping Operator maintains access control to the facility and reports to the Safety/Property Conservation Specialist. They ensure shipments/receipts are done in accordance with DOT and company requirements.

Experience (e.g., knowledge, education, skills, years of experience required to perform the role competently, etc. Do not list personal background only):
Knowledge: Knowledge of DOT requirements for shipping papers, and able to work in SAP.
Education: High School Degree (minimum)
Skills/Abilities: Computer skills(SAP, Word, Excel), interpersonal skills, this job requires long periods of sitting at a desk, climbing on trucks to inspect loads/check seals, possible to be on your feet for extended periods of time, lifting up to 70 pounds, must be able to communicate clearly, think on your feet in a fast paced environment. Must be able to work day shift, shift work, holidays and weekends.
Other Skills: Must be able to supervise others without having direct reporting relationship.
Work Experience: 3-5 years Security experience and 1-3 years working with DOT related shipping and receiving

Key Output/Deliverables (e.g., identify the key results produced through listing the primary five to seven duties and responsibilities of this job.) Duties include but are not limited to:
Maintain accurate listing of employees, visitors, truck drivers and contractors in the facility at all times. Be able to communicate with employees of all service and vendor representatives, with plant shippers loading/unloading of all incoming and outgoing shipments, with contractors of deliveries, visitors, and with the Emergency Response team leader during evacuations and all plant emergencies.
Ensure security requirements for shipments and receipts are met including inspections of seals and leaks on all box van and tank deliveries, checking safety credentials for all truck drivers making deliveries and pick ups, and ensuring the deliveries are appropriately routed within in the facility.
Conduct various shipping and receiving functions including but not limited to: checking and insuring that all certificates of analysis are in range of specification for all bulk and raw materials that are received in the plant and weighing of all incoming and outgoing trucks.
Perform the necessary paperwork functions associated with the job including, but not limited to: process and handling all bills of lading for all incoming and outgoing trucks, recording of all shipments and deliveries in area record log books, and distribution of all paperwork to the shipping coordinators office.
Perform miscellaneous safety functions including but not limited to: calculating and submitting monthly contractor hours to Safety Department, issuing all safety PPE to all contractors and visitors, checking safety credentials for all visitors and contractors, support the safety department with contractor testing, and maintain the C-Cure system which includes creating ID badges and accountability of everyone in/out of the plant.
Supports plant with phones at assigned times as needed.
Ensures Security Contractor paperwork, time sheets and required training are completed.
Final point of contact for Material Pass. Make sure all material pass paperwork is correct and make final inspection of any material leaving the plant.
