The Shuttle Driver is primarily responsible for transporting student passengers from the property of residence to a centralized location on campus. There are no overnight trips and is a part-time, Monday – Friday position during the school year. The Shuttle Driver is subject to random driving record checks and random alcohol and drug screenings throughout the entire employment period.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

• Provide safe and dependable transportation from the property to campus and back
• Verify passengers are residents of the property before leaving each route stop
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections with a high degree of accuracy and safety
• Maintain proper route schedules, scheduled departure times, passenger counts and other job-related paperwork
• Perform refueling, fluid checks, bus cleaning/sweeping and vehicle safety inspections
• Demonstrate good judgment on routes to manage passenger, vehicle and traffic conditions
• Sagely assist loading, unloading and securing passengers that need assistance in a professional manner
• Willingness to cover shifts when other drivers are sick or unable to work
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Must be customer service-orientated and act with professionalism
• Able to effectively manage time to ensure that route pick-ups/drop-offs are on time
• Attention to detail and able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision
• Ability to effectively communicate with staff and residents in English; Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
• Required to always drive in a legal and safe defensive manner
• Basic use of phones, tablets, computers, texts and email for daily tasks and timely communication

Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent; 1-3 years experience driving commercial passenger vehicle

Required certifications or licenses: Valid drivers license and Class C CDLL with Passenger Endorsement in the State of Texas is required along with required medical certification card.
