THE ROLE

CakeWorks' ideal Social Media Coordinator is eager, organized, and experienced – with an innate willingness to post, test, communicate and optimize. This role is responsible for working both internally and with CakeWorks’ clients to create, curate, and schedule all types of content across a variety of social platforms. A successful candidate will stay up-to-date on all current social trends, optimizations, industry KPIs, and platform launches and updates.

As an expert in social media, this person will help define and refine social media strategy for our clients and internal social channels. They will source, implement and execute all CakeWorks social media needs and will be trusted to represent the CakeWorks brand and company in sessions with everyone from senior staff at major media publishers to start-up founders, production partners, marketing partners and social and engineering teams across CakeWorks’ client roster. This person is a team-player, deadline focused, and highly motivated with a willingness to learn and ability to manage time efficiently. Good vibes only.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Social platform expertise, execution, design, management, and measurement (across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc. as others arise) for both CakeWorks and CakeWorks’ clients, including:

  • Creation and/or curation of content for internal and external social media channels
  • Development and management of editorial and programming calendars
  • Optimization recommendations and operations
  • Community management, including influencers where relevant
  • Client and CakeWorks’ brand development through creation and optimization of brand guidelines and brand surveys
  • Supporting paid marketing teams through the creation of ad creative, optimization across existing creative, and campaigns when applicable
  • Management of external creative partners, video editors and/or other design partners
  • Ownership of social analytics and data by developing essential trackers, reporting and analytics read-outs, core KPIs and overall social success criteria
  • Acting as day-to-day lead on social platforms for both CakeWorks and CakeWorks’ clients.
  • Design support for both CakeWorks and CakeWorks’ clients
  • CakeWorks newsletter management (including but not limited to, composing copy, sourcing images, and delivering to subscriber lists through Mailchimp), newsletter marketing, and developing tactics for increasing subscribers
  • Ongoing marketing support (e.g., website development) when applicable
  • Time-permitting, owning CakeWorks’ and CakeWorks’ CEO’s Twitter handles to demonstrate thought-leadership, brand awareness and #videosmarts to the industry at large

CAKEWORKS REQUIREMENTS

  • 1-3 years working in social media with a proven ability to execute social media initiatives
  • Innate desire and willingness to learn new platforms and optimizations as they emerge
  • Experience in digital media: flat content and video, editorial and brand-driven
  • Strong understanding of the digital landscape, with passion and commitment to learning about the video atmosphere
  • Ability to independently create client-ready presentations, with support from key subject matter experts on the team as needed
  • Strong knowledge and experience using social and video analytics tools (e.g., Facebook Insights, Instagram Insights, YouTube Analytics, Google Analytics, Tubular), and video platform technologies (e.g., OVPs, ad networks, production platforms) and a willingness to learn on tools you’re unfamiliar with
  • Proficiency in social media optimization and design elements (fluency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator required)
  • Strong attention to detail with an eye for creative and inspiring copy, images, and video
  • Self-starter and team player who is reliable and accountable for your own workflows and delivering against self-set timelines and priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to analyze data and communicate it in digestible terms to a wide array of stakeholders including internal teams
  • Experience uploading social videos, including video metadata tagging, captioning and proper hashtag tagging
  • Expertise in all Microsoft Office programs, particularly PowerPoint and Excel; G-suite expertise, including Google Docs and Google Sheets
  • Can-do attitude, ability to multitask independently across client and CakeWorks’ projects, grace under pressure, and – always – embracing CakeWorks’ brand values, including celebrating life and business wins
  • Willingness to embrace CakeWorks’ brand qualities – empathy, curiosity, bravery – and represent those with teammates and to the industry at large
