Employment Qualifications

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, English, or related field from an accredited program.

Certification courses from social media management tools (Sprout Social, Hoot Suite, etc.)

The social media strategist is responsible for developing and implementing social media strategy for Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. The position will drive engagement through high-quality original copy and visual content – in both organic and paid spaces. The role will engage with patients, families, influencers and the community by responding to comments, messages and overseeing social media customer service.   • Function as a creative communicator, using social media to contribute to CHoR’s brand awareness, relationship building, patient loyalty and overall engagement
  • Develop, implement and manage ongoing social media strategy and content calendars, including writing content
  • Ability to develop basic visual assets in Adobe Creative Suite and partner with graphic designer for larger campaign asset development
  • Collaborate with the CHoR marketing and communications team on integrated planning; collaborate with VCU Health’s social media team
  • Ongoing management of CHoR’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube
  • Develops social media KPIs, monitor metrics to measure success and retarget strategy as needed
  • Plan and implement social media advertising (paid ad campaigns, boosted posts, etc.) and manage campaign reporting
  • Experience with social media management tools (ex. Sprout Social, Hoot Suite, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, etc.), knowledge of current social media trends and an awareness of evolving or new trends to integrate new digital tools as needed
  • Monitor and respond to comments and messages; engaging appropriate levels of leadership as needed
  • Be a liaison to the crisis communications team
  • Ensure responsibility and visible commitment of diversity, equity and inclusion programs/initiatives through collaboration and implementation of initiatives across the health system
