Position Title: Center Level Social Worker

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work.

2. A license to practice Social Work.

3. Possess professionalism and discretion.

4. Compassion and empathy for students.

5. The ability to communicate effectively both written and orally.

6. The ability to work with different groups of people in order to foster healthy and productive relationships with students and staff.

7. Amount of prior job experience as determined by the Executive Director

8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Executive Director may find appropriate and acceptable.

Reports To: Center Director, Regional Director, Cyber Student Services Coordinator

Workplace: These positions will be split between two of our learning center locations. The team hired for these positions will work closely with two center locations/center directors to build the weekly schedule. Staff will be required to work from our center locations on site. Centers are located in Hazel Park & Pontiac.

Job Goal: To Improve student social, emotional, behavioral, and academic outcomes.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Work with the 504 Coordinator to complete necessary paperwork, schedule appointments and attain signatures for 504s and accompanying documents. a. Maintain spreadsheets and accountability systems to ensure timeliness.

2. Work with the College/Career Coordinator to communicate with seniors and juniors to identify post graduation plans

3. Work with the College/Career Coordinator to relay information about resources and eligibility that are available to students to fund post grad learning

4. Participate in educational planning by analyzing behavior and developing interventions to eliminate barriers that may impact a student’s adjustment within school.

5. Participate in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) by supporting teachers with data collection tools, intervention ideas and/or direct support for students in the general education setting.

6. Establish relationships with and provide individual and small group counseling to students, as needed, to assist them in achieving academic success.

7. Act as a referral base to provide staff and students with community resources to meet the needs of the student as needed.

8. Assist center’s in state testing, as needed.

9. Possess knowledge of and seek professional development of best practice instructional and intervention strategies for social and emotional delays.

10. Educate students, staff, and families about best practice approaches to meeting individual student social and emotional needs

11. Ability to assist in state reporting

12. Attend school meetings such as Child Study Team meetings, IEP meetings, 504 meetings or other meetings related to successfully supporting students with social and emotional needs.

13. Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations.

14. Work with or understanding of Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS).

15. Work with families and agencies to assist with truancy and other attendance related issues

16. Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.

17. Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.

18. Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with at-risk students including, but not limited to, children living in impoverished homes, students who have been or are at risk of being neglected and abused, students and families facing homelessness, or students who have emotional, behavioral, or mental delays.

19. Work as a liaison for students and their families to access community resources when needed

20. All other duties as assigned.

Salary and Terms: $35,600 per year for 195 days with single insurance benefits. Holiday and sick days included. This position will be re-evaluated at the end of the 2023-2024 school year per grant funding.
