Job Summary

Provide Victims Training in the areas of:

· Sexual Assault Investigation

· Domestic Violence Intervention

· Child Abuse Prevention & Investigation Techniques

· Forensic Child Interview Course

· Problematic Sexual Behaviors in Children & Youth

The courses will be compromised of law enforcement personnel, Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID), Marine CID, DoD Trial Counsel Assistance Personnel, Coast Guard Investigative Service (CGIS), National Guard Bureau (NGB), National Guard Office of Complex Investigations, Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS), Family Advocacy Program (FAP) personnel, Special Agents, Military Police Investigators, Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), DOD Education Activity (DODEA), Child and Youth Services (CYS) personnel, and select civilian multidisciplinary professionals.

Sexual Assault Investigation Course. Teach the following blocks of instruction over a ten-day course:

· Sexual Assaults in the Military

· Legal Aspects/Article 120

· Reprisal and Retaliation

· Sex Offenders

· Victim Impact - The Neurobiology of Trauma

· Trauma-Informed Interview (TII)

· Sexual Assault Injuries

· Intimate Partner Sexual Assaults

· Sex Trafficking

· Special Victims’ Counsel Overview

· Use of Digital Forensic Evidence

· Subject Interviews


Forensic Child Interview Course. Teach the following blocks of instruction over a five-day course:

· National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) Guidelines for forensic interviewing of children

· Children’s Language Development

· Developing the questions and question types

· Training in Episodic Memory

· Legal Aspects of Child Forensic Interviews

· Corroborating statements of child victim and witnesses

· Child Memory and Suggestibility

· Guidelines for Child Witness to Domestic Violence

· Peer Review Procedures


Domestic Violence Intervention Training. Teach the following blocks of instruction over a five-day course and in a Mobile Training Team (MTT) format, with 7-10s per year.

· Fatality Review Board Overview

· Legal Aspects of Domestic Violence

· Dynamics & Psychological Aspects of Interpersonal Violence

· Effects of Intimate Partner Violence on Children

· Understanding the Neurobiology of Trauma/Interviewing

· Traumatic Brain Injury and Domestic Violence

· Law Enforcement Crisis Intervention

· Domestic Homicide Lethality

· Intimate Partner Violence First Responder Protocol

· Trauma Informed Response

· Evidence-Based Prosecution

· Multi-disciplinary Aspects

· Psychopathology of an Abuser

· Overview of the Victim/Witness Program


Child Abuse Prevention & Investigation Techniques: Teach the following over a ten-day course:

· Investigative Process

· Legal Aspects in Child Abuse Investigations

· Pediatric Injuries

· Child Pornography/the Online Predator

· Internet Technologies and Online Chat

· Interview & Interrogation of Adult Child Abusers and Non-Offending Parents

· Psychological Aspects of Adult Child Abusers

· Child Abuse Crime Scene Lecture

· Multidisciplinary Aspects of Child Abuse Investigations

· Female Sexual Offenders of Children

· Missing Children and Child Sex Trafficking Investigations

· Juvenile Sex Offenders

· Child Victim/Witness Interview Techniques


Problematic Sexual Behaviors (PSB) in Children & Youth: Teach the following over a five-day course:

· DoD Instruction Review

· Psychology of MDT

· Establishing MDT

· PSB-CY Social and Cultural Shift

· Psychology of PSB-CY

· Evaluation of Beliefs, Biases, & Myths

· Investigation, Trauma, and Treatment

· Managing Special Populations

· Child Sexual Development

· Four Levels of Sexual Behavior

· MDT Roles and Responsibilities
