Overview

Mativ is growing and actively searching for an Asset Leader to lead manufacturing activities at the Munising, MI facility. This position will report to our Specialties Department Manager and will manage and own production on our saturators and/or our coater. The primary challenge is to establish and achieve business objectives in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, housekeeping, and human resources. Ideal candidates have the attitude, initiative and excellent interpersonal skills to support Mativ’s collaborative, high-achievement culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety, Quality and Regulatory Compliance
      • Exercise personal leadership to provide an environment that puts a priority on providing a safe and healthy workplace for employees and conforms to applicable local, state and federal laws governing loss control.
      • Provide leadership to meet or exceed the Quality management goals that will ensure conformance to all customer requirements.

  • Optimize Cost Structure
    • Develop and implement continuing cost improvement plans and programs as well as new capability development that ensures continuity and a competitive and profitable manufacturing facility.
    • Relentlessly pursue the reduction of operating costs and maximum operating flexibility while maintaining a bias towards quality leadership.
    • Position our assets to support growth initiatives through optimal balance of sustaining, cost saving and strategic capital spending. Keep assets, materials/inventories and equipment properly managed, maintained and developed.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Human Resources
    • Lead and develop a team that fosters Mativ’s culture of achievement and support, gain alignment in those beliefs and improve decision making.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Paper Science, Chemical Engineering or related field of engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an Operations environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
  • Aptitude to develop technical expertise and the ability to efficiently and accurately process a high volume of detailed workload
  • Excellent computer skills (including Excel and Word)
  • Prior experience in initiating and implementing cost savings projects a distinct plus
  • Prior experience with lean manufacturing initiatives a distinct plus
