We're looking for someone to join our team as a Child Health & Disability Prevention (CHDP) Associate (Outpatient) who:

Consults and provides leadership, medical advisement and public health expertise to public health programs in coordination with senior management. Serves as a medical consultant for California Children's Services (CCS), Children's Health and Disability Prevention Program (CHDP). Provides medical care, administers public health services and serves as a public health officer, as needed. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local requirements.

CHDP Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the Vaccines for Children Program for the clinic system. This includes maintaining inventory of vaccines, validating , submitting orders for all clinic sites and troubleshooting and regulatory compliance issues . Ensures that all clinic sites are in compliance with the state program requirements. Position is responsible for coordinating and educating new and existing staff and providers on the VFC program and CHDP. Prepares clinic sites for audits for both of the state programs VFC & CHDP.

Medical assistant certificate with minimum of 1 year experience with vaccines.

Essential Functions:


  • Assists public health officers, senior management and public health managers in strategic development, administration of public health services and compliance with federal, state and local laws, mandates, regulations and best practices. Serves as a public health physician for patients requiring direct care of sexually transmitted infections, communicable diseases, tuberculosis and other public health topics. Advises internal and external stakeholders about pertinent public health medical issues. Consults with physicians and conducts assessments of local health indicators in public health programs.
  • Serves as a liaison with medical and public health partners to plan, implement and evaluate strategies with the goal of improving overall community health. Provides education to providers on health-related issues and attends strategic and programmatic meetings, as needed. Develops and recommends policy and medical protocols for activities throughout the public health department. Provides management and medical oversight for disease elevations and outbreaks. Trains, evaluates and assigns staff. Assists with emergency preparedness responses and performs duty officer responsibilities during after-hour calls about public health concerns, including reportable diseases and conditions.
  • Contributes to the analysis and preparation of reports and correspondences. Promotes public health through participation and representation on coalitions, committees and conferences at the federal, state and local levels. Serves as the medical advisor for the Child Death Review Team and advises the Domestic Violence team. Receives calls on behalf of public health officers on an alternating basis and as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

You'll be successful with the following qualifications:

Education:


  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Associate's/Technical Degree in public health or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred

Work Experience:


  • Experience in public health field: Preferred
  • 1 year of MA experience working with vaccinations

The estimated base pay for this position is $15.50 to $22.18. Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through years of experience, differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
