Basic Purpose

The Sr. Cost Accountant is responsible for setting up and maintenance of accurate process cost information, reconciliation of standard costs to actual costs, maintenance of perpetual inventory system, participating in the month end close and budgeting process, and assist with day-to-day operations and reporting requirements. This position will be responsible for developing/maintaining an effective cost accounting system to reduce cost and improve overall profitability. In addition, provide leadership and assign responsibilities; train, monitor and improve the performance of reporting staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Manage operational expenses through activities of the division’s accounting functions for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports and management data to include production reporting, KPI’s, and scorecards.

· Manage fixed assets and capital spending processes.

· Participate in monthly and year-end financial closing process as needed.

· Provide for a standard costing system and ensure accuracy of the physical inventory and reported values.

· Manage and participate in Inventory Reconciliation.

· Oversee disbursement activities not limited to ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee expense reports, cash control, and division payroll tax compliance.

· Participate in the budget and forecasting process, providing insight and financial reporting as required.

· Respond to the CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate their financial needs.

· Perform special projects and other comparable and related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage accounting staff for the Plainville Farms division. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

· Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance or equivalent

· Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience with demonstrated track record of financial accounting experience, including Consumer products industry experience; food/protein industry required

· Solid system knowledge Microsoft Dynamics/Navision, or other ERP systems

· Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to articulate and relate to people at all levels of the organization

· Strong technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus

· Ability to manage and develop staff.

· Well organized and self-directed individual who is able successfully manage and execute multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
