About the Role

PetDesk provides an industry-leading app and reminder platform which allows pet care providers to better communicate with pet parents. This platform both utilizes & produces a lot of data. The primary responsibility of this role is to build, organize, and maintain this data in our data warehouse system(s). This person will be responsible for designing and implementing data solutions for various internal and external use cases. This covers the full life cycle, including back-end development, data model design, system administration, and business/data analyst support.

We're looking for someone who understands effective approaches to managing data and optimizing backend performance with these technologies at scale. This data store will primarily consist of PetDesk product and partner data, along with some operational data. The goal is to enable our teams to deliver increased insights and better products, improving the lives of both pets and pet care providers.

  • Automate regular data processing to consistently provide high quality data for analysis
  • Build and maintain a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake), utilizing modern data stack technologies, with a focus on Data Vault modeling
  • Develop & manage data workflows, pipelines, and cloud-based ETL design and processes
  • Provide & maintain reliable infrastructure for storing, processing, and visualizing large data sets
  • Work with leadership, key stakeholders, and a growing team of data lovers, across data from multiple products and sources, to deliver industry-leading data solutions

About You

  • At least 6 years of experience in a Data Engineering role
  • Expertise with SQL, both querying and database administration
    • Preferred DB systems: Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MS SQL
  • In-depth technical experience with both dimensional and transactional data models
  • Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot data pipelines, with many data sources
  • Strong programming skills, able to read & write code in modern languages
    • Preferred languages: SQL, Python, JavaScript, C#
  • Experience with SaaS product development, databases, and data models
  • Proven success implementing automated data processing & orchestration at scale
  • Commitment to enabling Data Analysts to deliver product & customer insights
  • Comfortable with cloud platforms, OLTP & OLAP databases, and container-based systems
  • Preferably have experience with several or more elements of our data stack:
    • Airflow, AWS, Data Vault, Python, Snowflake, Tableau
