What you’ll do:
Working in Rights and Permissions at Heinemann, the Senior Permissions Specialist will be responsible for the following primary duties:

Individuals in this role are focused on a variety of intellectual property responsibilities, for such assets as literary selections or works, photos, film/footage, and audio. The Senior Permissions Specialist leads or sub-leads permissions activities for projects within various product lines. Their responsibilities include securing and granting permission for copyrighted content; cultivating favorable working relationships and negotiations with external rights holders; overseeing external permissions vendors; processing payments and licenses; maintaining rights databases and archival files; preparing reports; and contributing to improved departmental processes and procedures. This role supports collaborating with internal cross-functional groups; participates in planning and scoping; monitors project budgets; ensures quality standards are met; and adheres to intellectual property compliance guidelines.

What you’ll need:
Minimum 3-5 years related industry or functional experience.
Familiarity with Excel.
Experience in: rights and permissions/contracts/intellectual property, problem solving
Understanding of: intellectual property , project management, negotiation Ability to: make value judgments and prioritize tasks within the realm of responsibilities; communicate compellingly, prioritize in a time-sensitive environment People skills needed to: create productive working relationships in a cross-functional team; work independently and as a member of a diverse group

Preferred but not necessary:
BS/BA in related discipline
Experience in: delightful customer interactions; communicating legal guidelines and policies
Experience working with external resources/vendors
Knowledge and/or experience with Agile frameworks and values
Familiarity with Smartsheets, data literacy, rights management and/or digital asset management systems and/or tools

Benefits and Salary Range:
Salary Range: $60,000 to $65,000. Our salary ranges are based on national averages. Compensation is based on a number of factors including the candidate’s skills, experience, education and location.
