Overview:


The primary focus of this position is to execute tasks and assignments in the area of CAPEX Project Management and Engineering. This position will support the company strategy to reach team goals and priorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
  • The project manager is to be committed to Holcim; either Holcim personnel or contracted personnel with long standing relationship to Holcim.
  • The project manager has the primary responsibility to plan and manage the CAPEX project, to ensure that the project is carried out according to agreed objectives, quality, time, cost, specifications, OH&S and environment protection requirements.
  • The project manager assumes responsibility for the CAPEX project including engineering, construction and administration aspects, within an approved budget and time schedule as defined by the project steering committee and approved by the project owner.
  • The project manager is responsible to lead the CAPEX project through the definition phase, for the preparation of the feasibility study, the tendering and contracting activities, and the development of the project realization phase up to the dry runs.
  • Hot commissioning and performance tests are usually not the responsibility of the project manager, but of the plant manager.
  • Plan, execute, and control the project in particular with regard to:
    • Project objectives, schedule and budget.
    • Project engineering, construction and administration.
    • Project quality considerations
    • (QA/QC: Quality Assurance/Quality Control).
    • Project resources.
    • Project communication.
    • Project risks.
  • Actively participate in regular project steering committee meetings (the PM is reporting to the Steering Committee, sets the agenda and organizes the meetings).
  • Assist the project steering committee and project owner in external project related matters, as case requires (financing, external communication (authorities, media, community, NGOs), legal and permitting matters).
  • Function as arbitrator and resolve all technical and non-technical related project matters which are subject to disputes in the project team and/or between contractual partners.
  • Present to project steering committee any deviation in project scope, schedule or budget, with recommendation as case requires.
  • Prepare the monthly progress reports and final project report.
  • Other duties as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS
  • Work with others in the US Manufacturing Support Team and Corporate Cement Excellence - Manufacturing team
  • Interact regularly with Plant Managers and their personnel
  • Collaborate with members from other functions to include Procurement, Project Management & Engineering, Learning & Development, Information technology Services, and Health & Safety
Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor's degree

Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree

Field of Study Preferred:
Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Project Management

Required Work Experience:
5 to 7 years plant maintenance position in a heavy industry, preferably in cement operations

Required Training/Certifications:
Engineering and Project Management

Required Computer and Software Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, SAP PM, MS Project

Travel Requirements
: 60%

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.
  • Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
