Job Description:

The Senior Structural Designer applies advanced drafting principles with minimal supervision through the collection and analysis of data obtained from the field or from Project information. Familiarity with one or more of the following industrial service areas is preferred: Chemicals, Petrochemicals, Polymers, Utility, Energy, and Manufacturing.

Requirements and Qualifications: Senior Structural Designer

• Vocational or 2-year Associate Degree in Drafting, or equivalent level of experience.
• Twelve (12) to Twenty-five (25) years or more of experience in the layout and drafting of civil/structural plans and details.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering design and layout of foundations, structural steel, concrete and masonry structures.
• Ability to develop complex design layouts that consider and incorporate requirements from other engineering disciplines to create a coordinated, unified design.
• Relies on vast experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Familiarity of advanced drafting concepts, practices, and procedures within the civil/structural field.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and Revit. Familiar with point clouds, PointSense, Kubit or other 3D scan-processing software. Imports and exports 3D models to and from AutoCAD Revit.

Duties and Responsibilities: Senior Structural Designer

• Prepares independent, complex design layouts in compliance with engineering design and applicable code requirements.
• Reviews designs of others to assure compliance with engineering requirements and consider project constructability, completeness and presentation.
• Provides guidance to less experienced designers.
• Act as lead designer on designated projects, being a technical resource for the project team and directing and checking work of other civil/structural designers assigned to the project.
• Optional experience: basic surveying for determination of project elevations and control points using level and/or total station equipment; familiarity with Carlson Civil/Survey, Autodesk Civil 3D or similar surveying software, or willingness to learn; developing site layouts, grading, underground utility layouts.
• Critical thinking skills with the ability to plan ahead and conceptualize; capable of recognizing discrepancies with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to obtain data from field observations or existing documents.
• Interface with the client and other engineering disciplines as required in order to effectively and efficiently develop Civil/Structural designs and documents.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines and have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Maintain compliance with all policies, procedures and standards.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction
• Authorize a background investigation, including verification of past employment, criminal history, and educational background
• Submit to a drug test post offer
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Accepts that this position may require some domestic overnight travel

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
