Staff Accountant Job at Palmetto Propane
Job Summary (Purpose):
Monthly Financial Statements for all affiliated entities
- - Within 10 business days of prior month end
- - Includes: P&L; Balance Sheet; Statement of Cash Flows; and General Ledger
General Ledger Accounting
- Posting Journal Entries
- Reconciling Balance Sheet Accounts
- Monthly Accrual Allocations
Ensure compliance with internal control responsibilities of all tax review and tax rate maintenance processes.
Compliance with all applicable governmental regulations, company policies and procedures, including:
- Monthly Sales/Use Taxes filing
- Monthly Motor Fuel Taxes filing
- Quarterly Federal Excise Tax and SC IFTA Tax
- Other tax compliance and filings
Manage proper taxation of fuel transactions through Cargas system
Maintain Fixed Assets and Depreciation Schedules
Oversee Business License, Property Taxes, other operational compliance
Support team as necessary - perform Ad-hoc tasks and special projects in support of the accounting team.
Preferred Experience / Skills:
- General Ledger Accounting, required
- BS in accounting, finance, or related discipline, required
- Strong abilities in Excel spreadsheet analysis and data management, required
- 0-3 Years of Tax Accounting experience (preferably Fuel tax)
- Experience in analyzing, navigating, and resolving IRS tax notices
- QuickBooks Payroll, Sage Intacct, and/or Bamboo HR
- Ability to multi-task and work in high-volume setting
- Ability to work well in a compliance / deadline-driven role
