Job description

The Teal-Jones Group, Pine Products, LLC site in Martinsville, VA is looking for a Staff Accountant to align with our growing lumber business. In this role, you would report to the Divisional Controller and assist with numerous different functions in the finance department.

Responsibilities & Duties:

· Accounts Receivable – Create customer invoices, prepare bank deposits, correctly apply cash receipts to customer accounts, reconcile customer accounts and perform collections as needed

· Accounts Payable – Match purchase orders/receiving documents to payable invoices and code to proper general ledger accounts, enter payables, prepare payments to suppliers

· Log Procurement – Maintain log purchases and accounting for tracts, process for payment as necessary

· Compile required materials for audits

· Aid in the implementation and testing of new software programs

· Maintain financial security by following internal controls

· Payroll – Maintain monthly payroll files and prepare journal entries, backup for payroll processing through 3rdparty system

· Administrative – Provide support to shipping clerk as needed by getting necessary information from drivers and preparing ship tickets for loads; answer phones as needed

· Other duties as assigned – assist in month-end close processes; support mill operations by analyzing data in a prompt and efficient manner; support Divisional Controller with accounting requests; support with special projects as required; all other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with 2+ years of relevant experience

· Punctual, dependable and a willingness to learn

· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other software applications such as Great Plains

· Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Admirable people skills and teamwork

· Working knowledge of GAAP

· Strong with numbers and analytical solving skills

· Good problem solving and time management skills
