Staff Accountant Job at Potomac Supply LLC
Job description
The Teal-Jones Group, Potomac Supply LLC, Kinsale, VA is looking for a Staff Accountant to align with our growing lumber business. In this role, you would report to the Financial and Planning Mgr. and assist with numerous different functions in the finance department.
Responsibilities & Duties:
· Accounts Receivable – Create customer invoices, create manual billing and adjustments, prepare bank deposits, correctly apply cash receipts to customer accounts, reconcile customer accounts and perform collections as needed
· Log Procurement – Maintain log purchases and accounting for timber tract inventory, prepare weekly settlement sheet
· Assist with spreadsheets and month end close processes
· Aid in the implementation and testing of new software programs
· Maintain financial security by following internal controls
· Assist with monthly physical inventories
· Accounts Payable – Back Up Accounts Payable as needed
· Other duties as assigned –support Finance and Planning Mgr. with accounting requests and analyzing operations data; support with special projects as required; all other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with 2+ years of relevant experience
· Punctual, dependable and a willingness to learn
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other software applications such as Great Plains
· Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Admirable people skills and teamwork
· Working knowledge of GAAP
· Strong with numbers and analytical solving skills
· Good problem solving and time management skills
