Leaf Group is looking for a Staff Accountant. A big vision calls for a big job. As we grow, our need for a Staff Accountant grows with us. This role will have a strong emphasis on handling cash across all of our brands under Leaf Group.
You’ll Report To: Sr. Accounting Manager, Accounting
A typical day as a Staff Accountant might include:
- Record transactions related to cash such as deposits, fund transfers, and miscellaneous activity.
- Participate in month-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries and general ledger reconciliations of accounts.
- Set up accrual analysis files as assigned.
- Analyze large volumes of financial data in Excel to process applicable journal entries.
- Research and resolve discrepancies related to account reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze cash position report highlighting balances and fluctuations on a weekly basis.
- Troubleshoot third party payment platform data variances.
- Identify opportunities to improve business processes and related financial systems.
- Assist implementation efforts as required.
- Provide support for internal and external audits in a timely and accurate manner.
- Prepare and maintain documentation of accounting processes for Sarbanes-Oxley purposes. Assist SOX internal control reviews.
- Assist with Accounts Receivable cash applications.
What You Have:
- 1-3 years of progressive work experience.
- Accounting and financial analysis experience desirable.
- Excellent Excel experience is required. Oracle knowledge is a plus.
- Knowledge of systems and processes related to treasury and financial management.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to research discrepancies and solve problems.
- Ability to analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
- Experience with manipulating and using multiple data sources to create basic and advanced reports.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with business partners.
- Strong team player who works well in a fast paced, changing environment.
- Ability to work an alternative schedule during quarter-end and year-end to ensure deadlines are met.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.

You’ll be successful if you are a positive, proactive accounting professional with experience handling day-to-day accounting.

The starting base pay for this role is between USD 29.25 and USD 32.35 per hour . The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, benefits, and other perks.
