Women in Distress is a state certified and accredited non-profit domestic violence organization whose mission is to stop domestic violence abuse for everyone through intervention, education, and advocacy.

Reports to: Finance Manager

Location: Jim and Jan Moran Family Center, Deerfield Beach. Florida

WID is looking for a Staff Accountant that has non-profit accounting experience and a passion for the organization’s mission.

Impact: This position is responsible for Monthly and Quarterly Grant billings, schedules, and reports.

Days/Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00AM – 6:00 PM

Position requires employee to have scheduling flexibility as needed to support the team and meet the needs of this agency. May be required to be available and remain onsite to assist during emergencies and other critical times.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Act as primary liaison with DCF accounting for billings and payments.
  • Prepare monthly & quarterly grant billings, schedules, and reports.
  • Ensures day-to-day operations are carried out in accordance with accounting principles, agency policies and objectives.
  • Interact professionally with all internal and external customers using strong customer service skills and compliance with budgetary, grant and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform special projects and prepare monthly and annual accounting schedules, closing entries and analyses as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in an accounting environment. Non-profit fund-accounting experience a plus. ABILA MIP fund-accounting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Experience with billing and reporting for multiple federal and non-federal grants.
  • Experience with MS Office and proficient / advanced skills in Excel, detailed spreadsheets, and internet resources.
  • Detail oriented, self-starter, proven ability to organize and prioritize work and manage multiple priorities.
  • Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to research and analyze data.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license. Safe driving record. Proof of Automobile Liability Insurance.

Additional requirements: Employee will be required to take the Department of Children and Families (DCF) Core Competency training and obtain a passing grade of 75% or higher.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $43,680.00 per year
