We are seeking a qualified Staff Associate II/Lab Manager for the Department of Critical Care and Hospital Medicine. This is a senior level research position that requires technical and management orientated skills including superb attention to detail and organizational skills. The incumbent will must be highly experienced in small animal research, transgenic mouse line management, anesthesia, data acquisition, postoperative pain management and monitoring. The incumbent will also be required to maintain inventory of shared equipment and general supplies. The lab manager will coordinate new projects with fellows, students and PI's, order and stock general shared supplies, service equipment, set up lab spaces, and manage experimental animal billing pricing.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily supervision of a busy lab, training new personnel (research technicians,) students, fellows, and visiting scientists on relevant methods, providing advice and consultation on research protocols and technical design.

Coordinating research activities including data collection, evaluation, and analysis, assisting in day-to-day operations, protocol implementation, specimen processing and other administrative tasks such as record maintenance.

Lab work and technical analysis. Small animal surgical procedures, animal tissue harvesting/perfusion, histological tissue preparation immunohistochemical and biochemical analysis.

Laboratory maintenance including inventory, purchasing of medical, surgical, and analytical supplies, equipment components, and management of all records of animal care.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

· Must have a Bachelor’s degree in specific research field and 4 years of experience;

· Master’s degree preferred.

· Consistently strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with professionals in other disciplines.

· The ability to create a high-energy results-oriented work environment that encourages colleagues and staff to value each other’s contributions; and

· The ability to share and celebrate success with colleagues and staff.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $56,160 - $62,000

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
