Staff Occupational Therapist Job at Washington County Hospital and Clinics
SUMMARY
This provider is responsible for the evaluation, planning, directing, and administering of occupational therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician or provider. The occupational therapist administers treatments and occupational therapy agents as prescribed by a referring physician in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)
- Performs an appropriate assessment on each patient, as related to the therapy requested and provided, and performs reassessments, as per policy. This includes pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population.
- Observes and evaluates treatment effect. Recommends change to referring provider, if needed.
- Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
- Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching, as appropriate.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to physician, staff, and administrative team.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Completion of a Bacherlors degree or higher for Occupational Therapist.
- Current certificate as Occupational Therapy, as well as current Iowa license.
- Current BCLS (CPR) certification.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- A basic knowledge of computer skills is required.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with strong written and verbal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations professionally.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, rapid changing and regulatory environment.
