Position Title: Stevedore
Reports To: Terminal Manager
Schedule: Depends on Vessel Schedule Tuesday- Friday 7:30am -4pm Sate Tentative to vessel schedule
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: High School or Equivalent
Experience: At least 2 years
Languages: English
Skills: Forklift certification, Hazmat knowledge
Traits: Sel-Starter, ability to get along with others
Licenses, software, etc: N/A
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Load and unload cargo efficiently and safely.
- Must follow the ship’s plan to ensure that cargo is loaded and unloaded correctly.
- May operate a forklift to move cargo containers to and from vessels.
- Good organizational and communication skills are important, along with ability to read and follow written plans.
- Need to be very aware of emerging safety issues, including hazardous materials on board ship and around the docks.
- Connect the containers to each other as they are stacked on the vessel.
