Job summary
To maintain a sanitary environment for food and beverage preparation and storage as well as provide clean serviceware and utensils for the entire food and beverage operation.

The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below or though the exercise of sound, reasonable judgment and initiative in the performance of job responsibilities.

Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives.
Summary of essential job functions
1. Hire, train, schedule, and supervise and counsel all members of stewarding department in accordance with established standards for safety, productivity, and performance

2. Delegate dish and equipment washing and silver polishing activities

3. Direct staff in maintaining the cleanliness of the back of the house areas, which include the main kitchen, storage areas, dumpster, leading dock, employee cafeteria, and warewashing areas

4. Manage general cleaning schedule so that the food service areas meet or exceed the health inspection requirements

5. Maintain the inventory and coordinate the distribution of all big four items, china, glassware, linen, and silver, which also includes visual inspection to ensure cleanliness and safe transportation

6. Control the equipment storage areas and the issuance of equipment for the Food Service department

7. Maintain and clean the house kitchen equipment, such as the stoves, refrigerators, ovens, and icemakers

8. Organize and conduct preshift and departmental meetings to advise staff of forecasted expectations
Educational/Experience Requirements
1. Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

2. High school education required

3. Working knowledge of kitchens, equipment, food production, sanitation and safety required

4. At least 2 years of supervisory experience required
Abilities Required
1. Ability to visually inspect cleanliness

2. Ability to count serviceware during inventory

3. Ability to push or pull service carts weighing up to 500 lbs

4. Ability to grasp, hold, and carry items weighing up to 40 lbs

5. Ability to read and speak English in order to understand job requests

6. Ability to retrieve items from 8’ shelves

7. Ability to stand and move throughout the facility for long periods of time, as much as eight hours or more, and continuously perform essential job functions

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
