Job Type: Part Time- full time potential

Job Summary: CountryMax has multiple open positions throughout the store. The open positions range from the pet department, the front end, floor/ warehouse and the nursery and L & G department. The open CountryMax store team member positions have a diverse portfolio of tasks and responsibilities including Point of Sale operation, handling financial transactions, live animal care and maintenance, carry outs, loading of customer’s vehicles, product stocking, plant care, merchandising and store maintenance.

CountryMax Overview: Beginning in 1984 as a small farm supply and feed store owned by the Payne family, CountryMax has grown into one of western New York State’s biggest success stories. CountryMax now operates 16 locations spanning from Buffalo to just north of Binghamton, and employs over 300 team members, a number that continues to grow each year. Over time the product offering as well as store size has increased dramatically- in addition to farm and feed supplies, CountryMax is now a one-stop shop for all lawn and garden products, pet supplies, small pets, clothing and backyard wild bird feeding. CountryMax customers have come to rely on a level of service, pricing, and small-town feel in a way that larger stores cannot replicate- yet they also enjoy the benefits of CountryMax’s extensive purchasing power and flexibility that typically tips the scales between the “big-boxes” and independents.

Position Outline: The CountryMax store team member full fills a number of roles and responsibility. Regardless of position, the store team member should have the ability to work effectively as a team. A helpful attitude is also necessary to provide top notch CountryMax service. The team member should be a self-starter and motivator. Due to the high amount of customer interaction the team member needs to enjoy communicating and working with people. The essential job functions include (but are not limited to) are:

  • Provide top-notch CountryMax helpful service, including carrying out any and all products for customers and patrons
  • After proper training the store team member may need to operate Point of Sale terminals and handle financial transactions
  • As a team, keep the store presentable and clean- Includes store maintenance & merchandising
  • Working with plants and nursery stock, or with live animals could be a possibility so prior knowledge is preferred but not required

Position Requirements:

The CountryMax store team member has the potential to work in multiple departments at the store

  • Previous experience in a retail environment is preferred but not required
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. if needed based on position
  • Must be able to stand on your feet for up to 12 hours or during the store’s operating hours
  • Helpful service and keen social skills are a must
