The Holton-Arms School is seeking a full-time Strength and Conditioning Coach. They would be responsible for establishing and maintaining a strength and conditioning program for all sports. Under the supervision of the Director of Athletics and Physical Education, they will implement a safe and effective comprehensive program to work on injury prevention and improve performance for all athletes and sports.The three major goals of this position include: improving athletic performance, reducing athletic injuries, and teaching lifelong fitness and movement skills. The Strength and Conditioning Coach will develop training plans, supervise training sessions, evaluate athletes, maintain athlete records, and will teach physical education classes to students throughout the course of the day. The Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for maintaining the fitness center and will work with the Athletic Director to establish plans and procedures for the safe and professional operation of the Fitness Center. This person will be a valuable member of the Physical Education Department.
Duties and Responsibilities: Applicants must be certified in strength and conditioning and have 3-5 years experience. Experience working with children and adolescents is preferred.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field
  • NSCA (CSCS) Certification - preferred but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Works well in team environment and collaborates with students, coaches, department members and school community
  • Willing to take initiative, be adaptable, and respond to a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to create strong relationships and articulate the school’s mission to the community
  • Expected to be present during pre-season and tryouts each season
  • Maintains records of data processes and contributes to design and improvement of sport specific plan
  • Ability to work effectively with coaches and athletes in a team environment
  • Supervise, design, and implement safe and effective strength and conditioning training routines for all athletes and students participating in sports and physical education classes
  • Oversee equipment and/or facility maintenance
  • Plans appropriate sport-specific exercises, exercise sequences, sets, repetitions, and recovery periods for teams and classes
  • Evaluates appropriate correlation of fitness components necessary to meet optimal individual performance levels
  • Conducts flexibility, warm-up, and physical conditioning activities prior to games or during practice sessions
  • Provides training and support in proper techniques and dynamic movement to athletes, coaches, and all users
  • Responsible for organization, inventory, and purchase of all weight room supplies.
  • Shall perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics including but not limited to teaching Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School physical education classes
  • Responsible for management of the weight room hours and staff budget including organization, inventory, and purchase of supplies
  • Responsible for fostering and building relationships within a diverse school community
