We are looking for Subject Matter Expert is primarily responsible for accelerating the sales process and maximizing revenue for every sales opportunity in their territory. They will conduct sales support activities working closely with the Sales Executives team members for all products and applications within the SOPHiA GENETICS portfolio from the first meeting with the prospect to close of sale. The SME is a highly technical position and requires in depth knowledge of all products and applications within the SOPHiA GENETICS portfolio. The SME is expected to be a field technical expert supporting all pre-sales activities. They will help sell products to specified academic, government, private, and/or industrial health care institutions in an assigned territory: Incumbent will work from a remote location but must be located within the territory with a strong preference for ready access to a major airport.

Requirements

Pre-sales support – support Sales Executives to accelerate sales process

  • Partner closely with Sales Executives and channels to generate, qualify, and close sales opportunities (Consulted)
  • Maintain appropriate records and provides relevant information within the CRM to help forecast business as needed
  • Deliver high quality platform demos and in-depth presentations on solutions to interested prospects by taking a consultative approach and understanding the customer's needs
  • Be highly knowledgeable on all technical aspects of SOPHiA GENETICS products
  • Provide technical training to the Sales Executives and channels on a regular basis so that they are fully knowledgeable of SOPHiA GENETICS products and portfolio
  • Provide weekly, monthly, and/or ad hoc business/activity reports (CRM, meetings etc.) as required
  • Work closely with Sales Executives / Customer Success Executives to deliver pre-sales activities and close opportunities quickly.

Understanding and disseminating market knowledge

  • Gather, process, and disseminate competitive intelligence and market feedback both to field sales and internal marketing department (Product Management)
  • Deliver technical and promotional seminars (e.g., expert talks), participate or contribute to trade shows, vendor shows, and related activities as deemed necessary
  • Provide regular feedback to the Manager and the Sales Management to help SOPHiA GENETICS staying competitive and ahead of the competition to better serve its clients (e.g., stakeholders within a prospective institute, lab equipment, reagents etc.)

Develop expertise of the field and internal processes

  • Partner closely with HR to provide mentorship, training, and education to colleagues as applicable
  • Be up to date on the latest scientific advancements in the field of clinical genomics
  • Be highly knowledgeable on all technical aspects of SOPHiA GENETICS products.

Transition Account to Professional Services and Customer Success team

  • Ensure smooth transition of accounts (including new customers within an existing account or upselling an existing customer) to Professional Services and Customer Success teams upon close of sale
  • Provide necessary technical information to the Professional Services Team in the initial stages of the Set-Up Program following relevant internal process.
Education & Working Experience
  • A Bachelor’s in biology with 2 years relevant work experience in the field of Genetics, Molecular Biology, Oncology or a similar

(or)

  • Master’s degree in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Oncology or a similar field within a well-regarded institution; PhD will be an advantage.
  • 1-3 years' experience in genomics as a Subject Matter Expert, Field Application Scientist, Technical Specialist/Advisor or a Clinical Application consultant preferably in the clinical diagnostics, biotechnology, or medical technology market.

Other Experience & Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, including experience in communicating complex scientific principles in simple terms is required.
  • Presenting a complex product value to meet clients needs
  • Ability to create networks within customer accounts
  • Ability to help technically qualify new opportunities quickly within customer accounts/region
  • Ability to connect different views between data science, customers and product management teams
  • Experience in wet lab molecular biology protocols, especially NGS workflows
  • Experience demonstrating complex data analysis platforms
  • Advanced understanding in analyzing complex datasets (Coding skills not required)
