JOB SUMMARY:

The Construction Manager is responsible for oversight and management of subcontractors, material, and administration of construction projects with attention to safety and quality. Works closely with the Senior Project Managers and Superintendents. Manages the subcontract activities on site ensuring subcontractors and suppliers maintains a safe work environment, ensures construction activities are executed in a timely manner, and assist in controlling project costs. Typically manages subcontracting groups with 5-25 staff.

THIS POSITION WILL TRAVEL TO ALL LOCATIONS.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

PROJECT SAFETY:

  • Review all safety meetings and JHA s from the field to assure that appropriate topics are covers and discussed.
  • Ensure that all Safety Meetings and JHA s are being conducted
  • Ensure Construction Compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure all work is performed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Work with Senior Project Manager or Area Managers to manage construction, maintain site, ensure a safe work environment, and maintain quality.
  • Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes or other regulations.

EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS:

  • Assist Project Manager with ensuring Weekly Vehicle Reports are being provided for all equipment that is on the project.
  • Assist with scheduling equipment into and out of the project as needed with proper transfer documentation.
  • Assist with scheduling tools in and out of the project and maintain an up-to-date tool inventory for the project.

PRODUCTION:

  • Assist the Project Manager with scheduling of Subcontractors.
  • Communication to the crew and owner to maintain a good working relationship.
  • Identification, Calculation, and Submittal of change orders.
  • Consult on scheduling and work with Project Manager to identify issues, manage subcontractors.
  • Monitor and control subcontractor crew hours.
  • Verify progress reports, build a quality project as per contract requirements and legislation.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, or design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, or construction problems.
  • Plan, schedule, or coordinate construction project activities to meet deadlines.
  • Keeping emphasis on client, develop and understanding of the client s culture, key people and processes.

PROJECT PAPERWORK, DOCUMENTATION AND WEEKLY REPORTING TO THE APPROPRIATE OFFICE:

  • Understand the Contract requirements.
  • Change Orders with detailed information of individual manpower hours, equipment hours, and material used.
  • Assist with reading As-Built Drawings.
  • Assist with developing construction plans
  • Assist with managing labor relations
  • Address outstanding open items as requested by client
  • Review Project Construction Schedules
  • Reporting to management team
  • Work with shop to maximize the equipment resources of the company

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS – (THE EMPLOYEE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS WITH OR WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMODATIONS):

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
  • Possess good vision / hearing. (Normal or corrected).
  • Ability to work while constantly moving on one's feet.
  • Must possess good vision (normal or corrected).
  • Must possess good hearing (normal or aided).
  • Drug Free Workplace: New Employees must submit and successfully pass post –offer drug screening.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3-5 years of experience within a similar role within the Electrical Substation industry
  • Associates or bachelor s degree in construction management, construction science, construction engineering or a related field.

LICENSES:

Valid Driver s License

SUPERVISORY DUTIES: directing, scheduling, addressing disciplinary or employment issues, and approving timesheets of crew
