Summer Camp Educator Job at Friends of Churchville Nature Center
TITLE: Summer Camp Educator
COMPENSATION: $550 per week
SCHEDULE: Summer Camp Educators work Monday through Friday (June 19 – August 25). Summer camp operations run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Educators must arrive by 8:30 AM on Mondays to receive camp rosters and attend camp counselor introductions.
DURATION: 6/19/2023 to 8/25/2023
POSITION DESCRIPTION: As a seasonal employee of the Friends of Churchville Nature Center, Summer Camp Educators will be responsible for leading summer camp groups. You must design and implement lesson plans that are relevant to the scheduled weekly theme. Camp groups range from 10 to 15 kids between the ages of 4-13. Volunteer summer camp counselors will assist in leading camp groups.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Must be 18 years of age or older (college students, recent graduates, and teachers are strongly encouraged to apply).
· Knowledgeable in the natural sciences and/or education (formal degree not required).
· Must obtain PA child abuse clearances, pass a criminal background check, and pass an FBI fingerprinting check.
· Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with proof of vaccination.
· Be able to commit to all 10 weeks of camp (vacations and time off must be preapproved).
OPTIONAL LESSON PLAN SUBMISSION
Candidates for the Summer Camp Educator position have the option to submit a hypothetical lesson plan as a supplemental part of their application. Upon request, you will be sent a page from our 2023 Summer Camp Brochure so you can create a brief 1-2 page lesson plan for one day of camp for any age group or theme. While the writing sample is not required for consideration, it will be factored into final hiring decisions.
