Superintendent of Schools

The Board of Education for Pine River Area Schools is in search of a new superintendent. This is the preliminary posting; a detailed profile of the ideal candidate will be added in mid-January 2023. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply after reviewing the detailed profile.

Pine River Area Schools serve the communities of Tustin, Luther, and Leroy. Adjacent to the Huron-Manistee National Forest, the area is a year-round scenic and outdoor recreation destination and offers a variety of rural and village living options. With US-131 running through its center, the Pine River area is twenty minutes from Cadillac and thirty minutes from Big Rapids (home to Ferris State University). Shopping, entertainment, recreational, cultural, and post-secondary educational opportunities are all convenient and accessible.

The Pine River Area Schools educates 971 students in three buildings, grades K-3, grades 4-7, and grades 8-12. The school community is close knit and caring. Successful approval of bond proposals in 2016 and 2020 is evidence of the strong community support for Pine River Area Schools. School activities and athletics enjoy strong parental support. Teachers and staff members across job categories are deeply committed and caring. A commitment to educating the whole child is evident across the district.

Pine River Area Schools collaborate and receive support from the Wexford Missaukee Intermediate School District.

Salary and Contract Information

The Board will offer a comprehensive, multi-year contract. Compensation will be commensurate with the experience of the successful candidate and the requirements of the position. A preliminary salary range of $110,000 to $130,000 has been established.
