The Production Superintendent reports directly to the Production Manager. This position will be responsible for overseeing and directing multiple teams in the operation of the LNG liquefaction facility. The Superintendent will be responsible for, developing strategies, work plans, and procedures to carry out the safe operation of the facilities. They will participate in all aspects of operations including, but not limited to, budgeting, scheduling, planning, purchasing, training, and staffing. Must possess good working knowledge of environmental, Federal, and State regulations; in order to assist the Cheniere environmental, regulatory, and commercial departments as needs arise. They will be required to fill in for the Production Manager in his absence and perform other duties which may include conducting training, assisting in regulatory audits, providing technical advice, assisting in the preparation of presentations and technical reports, as well as interpretation of data within these reports. The Superintendents will work with the Scheduler to ensure that all daily operational quotas are met, turnaround needs are properly distributed, and that ample workforce is available for future events.

KNOWLEDGE

Possess a high level of understanding of hydrocarbon processing operations, including safety, environmental, maintenance, operations, governmental regulations, and associated codes and standards. Understand the various applicable Federal, state and local environmental laws, regulations, codes and standards and permits required to operate an LNG terminal and pipeline facilities. Understands the basic properties of refrigeration thermodynamics and emergency response to any situation including hydrocarbon/cryogenic releases. The Superintendent must be accustomed to plant and industrial surroundings including process and support equipment, DCS systems, Pipeline operations and Loading Facilities. This position requires excellent troubleshooting skills along with the ability to convey knowledge to the operational teams and staff. Must have a working knowledge of essential tools used for performing the administrative tasks necessary to have continued safe and reliable operations, these include but are not limited to Word, Excel, Wonderware (Trending tool), PowerPoint, SharePoint, Incident Reporting via ESS. Knows effective processes related to fatigue risk management, overtime and holiday scheduling, coaching and discipline.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Manage, file and record environmental documents in the corporate document management systems (Documentum), and E-SIMS (environmental-safety information management system) as needed and as directed.
  • Manage and provide strategic direction to multiple disciplined teams responsible for safe operation in a 24/7 terminal environment.
  • Provide an environment conducive to strict adherence to following procedures and policies while promoting the dedication necessary for the success of Cheniere Energy.
  • Ensure operational and production optimization consistency between shifts in all activities and at all levels of the Operations Department.
  • Provides guidance to Shift Supervisors for day to day, short term and long term operations towards the delivery of business deliverables including development and management of expense and capital budgets.
  • Available for weekend and after hours calls from on-duty personnel pertaining to equipment repairs and outages.
  • Communicate and interact with all the plant departments, plus consult with external resources to resolve plant problems and improve plant reliability and safety.
  • Support clean-up efforts involving minor spills and may perform initial response and notifications to incidents or releases.
  • Participate in investigations of environmental incidents, and root cause analysis of environmental issues.
  • Communicate and coordinate company activities with federal, state and local agencies and outside organizations such as the United States Coast Guard, Department of Transportation, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and local law enforcement.
  • Maintains oversight of the Operations Logbooks and Ship Loading/Unloading Logbooks. Must ensure all Ship paperwork has been retrieved and organized to Operations Standards and that commercial business rules are followed.
  • Assist engineering and maintenance groups in design, planning and execution of activities required for improvements in safety, compliance, reliability and efficiency.
  • Identify and recommend processes to improve operational efficiencies, eliminate callbacks, reduce LUAF, manage overtime and increase safety performance.
  • Train, guide and mentor shift supervisors and operations teams in the development of leadership and administrative skills needed for a disciplined workforce.
  • Prepare and maintain LNG Operating and Procedure Manuals to the highest standard and ensures that all personnel follow procedures when performing tasks.
  • Coordinates with the Shift Supervisors to ensure shift activities are followed through to completion, and that each shift has been delegated its workloads properly.
  • Coordinates with Human Resources on all staffing-related activities including recruiting, interviewing, selection, hiring, discipline, development, training, promotions, salary changes, leaves, and terminations.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS)

  • Education and Certifications : Bachelor’s degree preferred in Applied Science, Engineering, or relevant work experience in operations, maintenance or safety in a hydrocarbon processing facility. Must be CPR, First Aid certified, and have knowledge of emergency procedures.
  • Experience : Seven 7+ years of experience in operations with a minimum of five years of Supervisory or operations relations experience in operations, maintenance, safety or environmental compliance experience for hydrocarbon processing facilities.
  • Skills :

    • Organized and able to manage multiple activities and programs timely and with a high degree of accuracy.

    • Current knowledge of Federal, state, and local environmental laws, policies, and issues.
    • Computer savvy, including ESS, Microsoft Office Suite consisting of Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

The Production Superintendent has a high degree of aptitude in their field and requires minimal supervision. Directs facility operations in the Production Manager’s absence.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Must be willing to travel to/from off-site facilities a minimum of 15 percent of the time for day trips to the corporate office or offsite training.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear, smell, type and write.
  • Must be able to board a ship via a gangway, climb to the top of a tank (200+ steps), scale vertical steel ladder up to forty feet or more in height, and lift and move objects weighting up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors and outdoors and exposed to year-round weather conditions, ocean environment, noise, and occasionally process gases and vapors.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Cheniere.
  • Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.
  • Required to pass regularly scheduled physical examinations mandated by regulatory authorities.
  • All responsibilities must be met in a rotating shift environment, including holidays, weekends and nights.
