Job Description

This position serves as a Project Material Manager on small Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, and Construction (EPFC) projects.

  • Plan, organize, direct, and control an appropriate portion of the purchasing, expediting, or field purchasing function on a project
  • Develop, or assist in the development of purchasing, expediting, or field purchasing activities on the project or non-project procurement in a particular region
  • Perform material buying, expediting, or field purchasing activities in accordance with the corporate Operating System Requirements (OSR) and established project or Material Management Plans, policies, and procedures
  • Provide general and direct supervision to the purchasing, expediting, and other support staff as assigned
  • Responsible for the implementation, management, and monitoring of the Material Management Work Process with the approved Corporate Reference Tool for Material Management to meet project requirements and schedule
  • Negotiate and/or provide assistance in negotiation of large to complex equipment and bulk material packages to obtain best value for the Project
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and eight (8) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twelve (12) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Other Job Requirements

  • Manage entire RFQ/RFP life cycle (bidder selection, RFQ issuance, negotiations, award, post award, close out)
  • Assist in the development of procurement package plan
  • Assist in the development of project contracting plan
  • Create and manage project equipment/material expediting plan
  • Managing RFQ process for custom process capital equipment
  • Managing RFP process from non-complex to medium size field services contracts
  • Travel to project(s) may be required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English (read, write, and speak)
  • Working toward applicable professional certification(s) or license(s)
  • Experience should be primarily in the area of material management
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent computer literacy and skills
  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills
  • Experience in Supply Chain for the Mining or Metals Industry
  • Experience in EPCM industry with industrial capital expansion projects
