Surgery Scheduler Part Time Job at SIMEDHealth

SIMEDHealth is looking for a Part Time Surgery Scheduler for our Neurosurgery division in Gainesville, FL. The Clinic Assistant -Surgery Scheduler is responsible for the management and coordination of the surgical cases scheduled in the clinic. The flow of the surgery process begins and ends at this position and it is the CA’s responsibility to ensure that patients are transitioned throughout the scheduling process smoothly.

Hours for this position will be: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8-5 and Friday 8-1; off on Mondays.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED).
  • Proficiency in utilizing a computer including Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Outlook (REQUIRED).
  • Previous experience with an electronic medical record.
  • 1-2 years previously in a medical office or hospital setting.

The following are duties which may be required of you as a Clinic Assistant-Surgery Scheduler. Duties are assigned based on the clinic need and not all may be applicable.

  • Schedule surgery date & time, schedule pre-op clearance appointment / Check Out Patients
  • Identify the appropriate CPT codes and ICD-10 codes required for surgery
  • Effective communication and coordination between the patient, the surgeon, hospital pre-op services, OR scheduling, surgical reps used for surgeries, hospital staging, and/or other providers requiring clearance for surgery
  • Can effectively and efficiently process authorizations for specific surgical cases and relay information to all parties involved
  • Understands and demonstrates proficiency in scanning charts and medical documentation into charts
  • Is proficient in HIPAA and Medical Records Rights to Access policies and procedures and adheres to them
  • Demonstrates organizational skills
  • Correctly and efficiently inputs all data into system
  • Compiles, Processes, Understands and is knowledgeable of required patient forms
  • Can respond to patient requests in a professional and appropriate manner
  • Can process incoming pre-operative information appropriately and re-direct referrals for further clearance appropriately and obtain proper authorizations
  • Schedule Appointments & Procedures
  • Understands how to collect monies (Co-pays, Debts, Co-Insurance) and complete receipts correctly.
  • Balances Cash Drawer, Performs Appropriate Daily Cash Balancing Procedures
  • Insurance: Knowledge accepted insurances, insurance cards, and Third Party Payors
  • Insurance: Verifies & obtains authorizations for all plans
