Participates in surgical procedures, assisting the surgeon, maintains aseptic technique, prepares sterile and non‐sterile supplies and equipment. Anticipates the needs of the surgeon.

1. High school graduate. 2. Graduate of an approved Surgical Technician program, or an LPN with one ‐ year Operating Room experience, or a person with formalized education equivalent to surgical technician training. 3. BLS with in 1 year

1‐ year experience performing duties specifically relevant to scrubbing surgical cases and knowledge of sterile technique.

1. Participates in patient care under the supervision of the surgeon and Registered Nurse. 2. Collaborates with Central Processing to ensure proper function, maintenance, and sterility of equipment and instruments. 3. Utilizes and maintains surgical instruments according to manufacturer’s recommendations and department guidelines. 4. Adheres to policies and procedures as it relates to dress attire in surgical area and universal protocol. 5. Anticipates surgeon’s needs. 6. Keep abreast of upcoming procedures/surgeries and familiarizes self with anatomy and instruments. 7. Participates in and supports performance improvement activities. 8. Follows standard precautions and utilizes disease specific guidelines as per CDC guidelines.

1. Consistently shows good judgement by showing appreciation of cost and quality. 2. Demonstrates good judgement and planning when responding to requests or questions while interacting with physicians, staff, patients, and families. 3.
