The System Administrator is an entry level junior system administrator role that reports directly to the LEAD System Administrator. This individual is responsible for the design, implementation, administration and maintenance of network, communications and computer systems. The System Administrator works alongside other Network Operations personnel.

Essential Functions:

  • Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
  • Serve as lead for Active Directory administration including moves, adds and changes to AD users and groups; Lead for Office 365 Administration including management of users, shared mailboxes, groups, contacts and calendars; Lead for management and administration of DIRSYNC between AD and Azure/Office 365.
  • Serve as lead for printer device, print server and print queue management and administration.
  • Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, communication systems and others.
  • Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly.
  • Performs voice administration tasks, including moves, adds and changes to IP telephones and voice mailboxes.
  • Coordinates daily work activities; confers with supervisor to obtain direction regarding work assignments and priorities; organizes tasks in order to complete assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with co-workers, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise; assists with training and instructing co-workers regarding operational procedures and proper use of equipment; assists with supervision of co-workers by reporting employee problems and providing input on disciplinary action and employee performance evaluations.
  • Assists in designs of computer and network communications systems: Works with Senior System Administrator and different departments to design new systems for information processing; design how new systems integrate with our current systems; collaborates with vendors to determine how to plan and implement new systems; identifies and resolves issues with implementing new systems.
  • Assists in implementation of computers and network communications systems: Works closely with Senior System Administrator, vendors and departments on rollout of new systems; tests the functionality of new systems and how it integrates with current systems; tests the new systems to make sure it conforms with security policies
  • Responds to 2nd level and above support calls on most computer/communications systems; Supports computer systems, resources and applications both network and desktop; provides off-hours system support on evenings, weekend and holidays for critical issues; troubleshoot and diagnose problems in all areas of IT (desktop, system, network).
  • Purchases new equipment/software/licenses as well as renews maintenance contracts: Researches pricing and procures server and network communications equipment; procures server software and licensing renewals and software and hardware maintenance agreements.
  • Meets with point person for various network communication vendors for network/server/communication hardware and software to include: Cisco, Juniper, Barracuda, AT&T, Time Warner, Cox, Agile, Everstream, Dell, and others.
  • Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.
  • Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
  • Updates and enhances own knowledge by involvement in continuing education for professional growth (i.e., attends relevant conferences, seminars, in-service trainings, and certification programs)
  • Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science in Information Technology or relevant experience; supplemented by previous experience in Information Technology or related area areas, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license under the laws of the State of Ohio.
  • Experience in operating systems, Windows Server(s), PowerShell, enterprise backup and recovery, performance monitoring tools, active directory, virtualization.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure /Office 365a plus.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including employees and the general public.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation with ability to communicate one-on-one or in group settings.
  • Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
  • Management skills and strong business acumen, including problem solving, vision, ability to manage multiple programs and meet deadlines, collaboration, leadership, decision making and ability to analyze diverse facts and develop clear and concise reports and recommendations.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Proficiency in software programs including all Microsoft Office programs.
  • Mature professional attitude and considerable discretion, including ability to manage confidential information.
  • Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.
