NASA Headquarters: Unix / Linux Systems Administrator III

Venesco is looking for a Unix / Linux Systems Administrator III to support our NASA contract at NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC. In this role you will join an existing team of professionals committed to exceeding expectations, supporting the success of the team, supporting the NASA missions, adding value for the taxpayer, and actively engaging in educating themselves.

This position will require a Secret Clearance. This position will require you to be in the office 2-3 days a week once COVID restrictions are lifted.

Unix Support - Cloud:

  • Experience managing systems in a mixed Windows AD/Azure and Red Hat Linux environment highly desirable
  • Experience integrating Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems into Microsoft Active Directory and Azure environments
  • Experience migrating Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 to 7 and 8 environments
  • Experience using Nagios and SolarWinds to monitor and manage systems

Onboarding/Offboarding Duties:

  • Process NAMS requests for HQ Standard Accounts, which provides onboarding users access to NASA email and HQ network drives
  • Create weekly and monthly reports
  • Maintain HITSS group email lists
  • Maintain HITSS Organizational Chart

Operation/Cloud Tool Support:

  • Experience configuring and managing NetApp filer appliances and NetBackup (NBU) multi-tiered backup systems (running as Windows appliances)
  • IBM (now HCL) BigFix experience
  • Experience managing a small Mailman mailing list service
  • VMware/vSphere experience
  • AWS CloudWatch experience
  • Understanding of NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes and associated controls and procedures, especially deploying NIST SP 800-53 and other controls to Red Hat servers
  • Working knowledge of standard Microsoft productivity tools (Word, Excel, Visio) and developing system documentation as well as operating

Certificate Management:

  • Manage the server certificates and ensure they do not expire
  • Requirements:
  • 5-8 years of System Administration experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work well independently, proactive and as a team player

Pay: $85,000.00 - $93,000.00 per year
