GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position plans, and directs the administrative and operational activities of all service lines across the continuum of care and manages one of the Service Lines. This position is responsible for performing long term and short term planning, developing strategic initiatives and policies. Additionally, the individual in this position will lead the other Service Line leaders and collaborate with various departments and committees to cultivate meaningful relationships with physicians, medical center leadership, and other internal and external stakeholders. This role will require skills in project management and the ability to implement strategies and demonstrate success in generating volume growth for assigned service line and coordination of all service lines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(20%)* Ensure consistent delivery of service line operations across the system.

(20%)*Develops comprehensive business plan for assigned service line that is consistent with MyMichigan Health's mission, vision, values and strategic plan. Annually reviews, revises, and updates initiatives.

(20%)* Demonstrates success in generating volume growth for assigned service line using resources and tools available.

(20%)* Demonstrate the knowledge to be the premier expert in their respective area, bringing MyMichigan Health service line to contemporary thinking and nationally recognized. Creates and implements strategies for development of assigned service line, including the geographic market and the interrelationship with the other key services at MyMichigan Health.

(20%)*Oversees the operational implementation of new program development, as appropriate.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This individual is responsible for coordinating and prioritizing the requests for activities of all service lines. All service line directors and chiefs will report to this position.

Develops and tracks key service line metrics for success on a scorecard.

Actively researches regional and national trends related to the service line and integrate into business plan and financial forecast when appropriate.

Uses data and information systems to assist in decision-making while adhering to the MyMichigan Health's policies.

Works collaboratively with marketing, community education, and public relations to promote service line and develop community and referring physician awareness of the services available at MyMichigan and all applicable affiliates.

In conjunction with the Service Line Chief, enhance, cultivate, and develop medical staff relationships to allow open communication, problem-solving, levels of satisfaction with services provided, development of new services, and identification of market needs with physicians.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND SKILLS:

Master’s degree required.

Five years’ experience leading a service line or business unit.

Special skills required excellent verbal, written, analytical, time management and interpersonal skills as well as computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and related products.

Experience preferred: 8 - 10 years professional experience in health care operations.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.

Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.

Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.

Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).

Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.

Some exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health blood-borne pathogen and TB testing as required.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.

Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.

Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0 33% of the workday) lift or carry 0 10 lbs.
