The Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining, upgrading and managing our software, hardware and networks.

The Systems Administrator is functionally responsible for setting up and maintaining computer systems. This position will have access to information that is confidential. It is the responsibility of the Systems Administrator to keep this information private from the public and from other individuals within the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Completes projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments.
  • Verifies application results by conducting system audits of technologies implemented.


Information Technology Reliability and Security

  • Configuring and maintaining the networked computer system, including hardware, system software, and applications.
  • Ensuring data is stored securely and backed up regularly.
    Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, networking, and system issues when they arise.
  • Replacing and upgrading defective or outdated components when necessary.
  • Monitoring system performance to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely.
  • Researching and recommending new approaches to improve the networked computer system.
  • Providing technical support when requested.
  • Documenting any processes that employees need to follow in order to successfully work within the Beck Suppliers computer network.

Hardware and Software Maintenance & Upgrades

  • Manages the company’s PC software platform and performs or ensures that necessary upgrades are being done accordingly, and license requirements are being adhered to.
  • Performs software upgrades to the Ascend and PDI Accounting Systems with the direction and assistance of Management.
  • Assists the Retail Management Team in training users on implementation or upgrade changes made to the various software or hardware platforms.
  • Assists all Departments and Divisions with IT-related functions.
  • Administers and monitors the company’s digital security camera systems.
  • Trains users on implementation or upgrade changes made to the various software platforms or new hardware systems.

Project and Department Administration

  • Requires users to submit service requests through the company’s work order system so that all requests can be evaluated, prioritized, and assigned.


General

  • Acts as a liaison between 3rd party support vendors and Beck Suppliers for any Crystal/SQL/Transcend Reporting needs.
  • Maintaining the performance of the retail audit function and developing more efficient ways to perform these duties.
  • Maintain PDI connectivity between Corporate Office, Store PC, and POS Systems. Implement any new changes to PDI involving scanning, item-level inventory, mix-n-match, combos, etc.
  • Assists in the overall maintenance and upkeep of anything related to technology, information systems, or other projects deemed necessary to enhance the company’s performance and profitability.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or diploma in information systems, information technology, or related field.
  • 2-4 years experience in the role of Network Administrator or related title
  • Experience administering server-side technology and networked computing systems.
  • High level of ability with spreadsheets and other analytical tools.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with human issues with colleagues and owners.
  • Availability outside of working hours to resolve emergency issues promptly.
