Job Summary

Maintain and install IT systems for the ongoing operation of Tribal business. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues ensuring security and efficiency of IT infrastructure. Provides advanced support to computer users who need assistance with software, hardware, network connections, peripherals, databases, telephone systems, and a wide range of IT services.

Essential Functions

  • Answer, evaluate, and prioritize incoming telephone, voice mail, email, and in-person requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with hardware, software and other computer-related technologies
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve problems with applications, networking, hardware and telephone systems
  • Work with the Systems Manager and other staff as necessary to document common problems and solutions to help reduce preventable calls
  • Test fixes and follow-up with users to ensure problem resolution
  • Document all pertinent information to track, escalate, resolve, report on and research the issue, including unsuccessful and successful actions
  • Participate in deploying client configurations throughout the computer network system, a process requiring detailed knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, and compatible business applications
  • Prioritize and schedule work; escalate problems to Systems Manager as necessary
  • Complete backups and perform scheduled work, such as preventative maintenance, workstation set up, conference room set up, hardware and software systems; , monitor for virus activity;provide computer repairs; and administer the Cisco phone system
  • Support database applications used by various Tribal programs
  • Update and manage server and computer inventory records as requested by Systems Manager and create domain and email accounts

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate's degree in computer science or a technology-related field, or a combination of education and experience may be substituted for a degree

Experience

  • Experience with computer hardware and peripherals, ancillary systems and devices
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 operating systems
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL and other database systems
  • Experience with various storage systems including but not limited to NetApp
  • Support of email security and endpoint protection client software

Preferred

  • Knowledge of computer & networking technology in both the wired and wireless fields preferred
  • CompTIA A+ and Network+; Microsoft MCT, MCSA, VMware VCTAm, VCP, NCDA
  • Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities

License/Certification

  • Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy, or obtain within 90 days of hire
