Job Description

The responsibilities of the title as noted above are as shown below. These are general descriptions that may or may not apply to specific team members who possess these titles. These are made generally available to the VBC | Studio organization as a whole in order to clearly delineate areas of growth or improvement for those aiming to gain additional experience and increased responsibility.

  • Utilize BIM software to model structural and non-structural framing components for project delivery, under the direction of the Senior Systems | Engineering Associate, including walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, and all connections required
  • Manage schedule and deliverables for assigned projects, reporting progress and flagging delays when necessary to Senior Systems | Engineering Associate and Senior Systems Manager
  • Review project design engineer modeling and documentation to ensure compliance with VMX Blueprint, VMX specifications, and operative building codes during the design process
  • Organize and run project-based production documentation meetings to monitor drawing progress, clash detection, and coordination with Project Designer | Project Architect, MEP, and Structural disciplines
  • Work with assigned Project Designer | Architect and Design Operations representative to provide a fully coordinated digital project model prior to production documentation and subsequent start of manufacturing
  • Advise and assist Manufacturing Project Manager and Construction Project Manager with any production or construction drawing related RFIs and ECRs
  • Work with Senior System | Engineering Associate and Design Technology team to generate and maintain standard BIM component and detail libraries
  • Advise and assist Product Design team in the revision and improvement of manufacturing and construction standard details and components
  • Work with Senior System | Engineering Associate and Design Operations team to generate and maintain relevant standard schedules, templates, and checklists
  • Aid in the production of the BIM manual with respect to framing systems modeling, documentation, standards, and training process
  • Mentor and train junior members of the Product Systems design team
  • Maintain open communication with manufacturing and construction teams on a project by project basis to ensure faithful and profitable execution of VBC Projects

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 Years of relevant experience required
  • Revit proficiency required
  • Additional BIM software proficiency preferred
  • Component design software proficiency required
  • Previous experience in structural component design is required
  • Familiarity with North American building codes is required
  • Volumetric modular construction component design experience is preferred
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required
  • Must have a positive attitude and be able to function as part of a team
  • Must be detail-oriented and comfortable with manufacturing processes and standards
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Must be an independent problem-solver and appreciate a fast-paced work environment
