What we need...
The Systems Engineer provides the business knowledge and technical skills to implement technical strategies, evaluate products and provide a superior level of technical support that benefit the company. The Systems Engineer will assist in ensuring our systems are available, secure, efficient, and scalable. The Systems Engineer will be key to maintaining IT systems, developing automated mechanisms for day to day tasks, identifying and remediating issues found within the infrastructure, and maintaining relevant skills and knowledge in the information technology space.
Responsibilities:
What you will do...
- Oversight and accountability for resolution of VMware virtualization, Cisco UCS server infrastructure and NetApp storage infrastructure
- Support complex systems including integration, security and high level VMware administration, capacity planning, and server/system optimization
- Participate in installation and configuration tasks; perform software upgrades and maintenance
- Implement highly available systems and resolve incidents in a timely manner
- Collaborate with other Infrastructure Engineering team members in the development, optimization, and presentation of operational systems
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
- Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations on infrastructure hardware and cloud services
- Perform continuous evaluation of system utilization, monitoring response time and primary support for detection and correction of operational problems
- Perform data center functions like server racking, cabling, and routine maintenance on occasion
- Perform a critical role in the build-out and ongoing support of a new data center colo - and the decommissioning of an existing one
- Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
- Ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
- Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level support.
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware and software upgrades, and resource optimization as needed
- Provides 24x7 hardware and software support for infrastructure components as part of a rotating on call process.
What we need…
- Confidence with working in VMware Virtualization, and NetApp storage
- 2+ years experience with VMware
- 2+ years of NetApp Storage experience
- 2+ years of experience in public/private cloud offerings and working in hybrid cloud architectures
- Experience working with enterprise-level servers across multiple data centers and storage networks and related infrastructure
- System, Server, Storage backup and recovery experience
- Familiarity with change management and configuration management
- Technical expertise in identifying, evaluating, and troubleshooting of technology issues across all IT functions
- Significant experience with Windows Server 2016 and above
- Able to work independently, under general supervision, and as a part of a team, on several concurrent tasks with changing priorities
- Consistent, outgoing and friendly demeanor
- Strong sense of service and support with strong time management skills
What makes you stand out...
- Cisco UCS Administration
- Experience administering RHEL 7 or above
- Experience with any or all of Azure, AWS, VMWare virtualization, system provisioning, and automation
- Experience with Ansible, Tower, Jenkins, Nexus, Git
- Experience with Kubernetes maintenance, administration, and deployment
- Proven ability to translate technical requirements into automation to provision a functional environment
- Infrastructure as Code mindset
Pay ranges for this job title may differ based on location, responsibilities, skills, experience, and other requirements of the role. The estimated pay range for this role is $90k - 125k year.
