We are looking for you to join our team as a Systems Engineer/Principal Systems Engineer based out of Rolling Meadows, IL. As a Systems Engineer/Principal Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation.

What You’ll get to Do:


In Integration & Test, you will conduct integration testing and evaluate complex electronics systems from hardware/software design through aircraft installation. Your key responsibilities will be to ensure that the systems we make work – and work well. This will involve the creation and execution of Integration, Design Verification Test, and Flight Test plans and procedures. You’ll be able to apply your knowledge and experience in RF systems, sensors/antennas, transmitters/receivers, detection and tracking. Tasks can vary in location from on-site activities in one of our Systems Integration Labs (SILs) to activities out in the “field” (test events, ranges, customer sites, etc.) and they can consist across a broad spectrum of environments and complexities

Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Engineer:

  • BS degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, or related technical degree with 5+ years related experience or Masters degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, or related technical degree with 3+ years related experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work in an integrated product team (IPT) environment
  • Experience in an integration and test environment for complex electronic systems
  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret OR ability to obtain a interim secret clearance to start

  • Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work in an integrated product team (IPT) environment
  • Experience in an integration and test environment for complex electronic systems
  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret OR ability to obtain a interim secret clearance to start

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, or related technical degree with 5+ years related experience or Masters degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, or related technical degree with 3+ years related experience.
  • Experience with real-time signal processing in both firmware and software
  • Knowledge of C, C++, CUDA, VHDL, OpenCL, SysML, Python, or other scripting languages
  • Experience with Model Based Engineering (MBE) concepts and tools (Rhapsody)
  • Working knowledge of DOORS and ClearCase/ClearQuest
  • Recent experience creating integration and test, design verification test and flight test plans and procedures
  • Experience in an integration and test environment for complex electronic systems evaluation
  • Experience in development and management of cost accounts and schedules as related to Systems Engineering tasks
  • Recent experience creating integration and test, design verification test and flight test plans and procedures
  • Working knowledge of one of more of the following specialty areas for integration and test related to EO/IR/RF systems: sensors/antennas, transmitters/receivers, optics, detection and tracking
  • Active Secret or Top Secret clearance
  • Ability and willingness to travel 25%


Salary Range: $99,800 USD - $149,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $81,000 USD - $121,600 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
