Purpose and Responsibility of the Position:

Assists the Team Leader and Supervisor with the operation of the Press Line on their assigned shift.

The Press Operator (Level 1) is responsible to ensure that the Customer, People, and Investor goals are balanced and met.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Assist the Team Leader in all aspects of the job to ensure the Press Line runs at maximum efficiency.
  • Assist the Team Leader with training of new Associates.
  • Assist with maintaining department housekeeping standards.
  • Be certain that Associates are following the work instructions for the line.
  • Relieve the Team Leader for breaks and assume responsibility as Team Leader to cover for vacations and/or weekends.
  • Provide relief on the line when Associates go on breaks.
  • Be certain we are complying with our Quality elements. Following all applicable B.O.S. procedures and ISO procedures where applicable.
  • Assist Team Leader daily with maintaining SAP and inventory control.
  • Responsible for maintaining SAP and inventory control when no Team Leader is present.
  • Responsible for quality of parts produced.
  • Responsible for parameter books.
  • Responsible for automation staging and secondary inspections.
  • Responsible for verifying die set-up sheets are completed.
  • Responsible for run rates.
  • Provide other job duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Team Leader.

Position Requirements:

Communication Skills

  • Must have good oral communication skill
  • Ability to give clear direction to Associates on the line.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to work with metrics.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral diagram form.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

  • 90% Standing, 10% Lifting
  • Automated equipment and mechanical robotics, works near moving mechanical parts.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One to three months experience.
  • Previous Press shop experience, knowledge of how to run a Press line.
  • Lead by example, be trustworthy and dependable.

Areas of Training Required:

Must have New Hire Orientation, Safety, and Understanding of the Charter prior to or within the first two weeks of assuming the role.

Drive Management System (DMS)

The Company is governed by compliance to various Drive Management Systems, prescribing the objectives and procedures related to Employees, Shareholders, Customers, Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental concerns, Preservation of Energy and Corporate Citizenship. Public compliance to Drive Management Systems is demonstrated through certification to specific national and international standards, either by our customers or external authorities in Quality, Environmental, Health, Safety and Corporate Governance. Certification is acquired through internal and external audits to measure compliance to the various Drive Management Systems.

Every Manager is required to support all organizational efforts to conform to all Drive Management Systems compliance directly related to their area of responsibility. It is further required they; regularly review and understand changes to any Drive Management System, oversee any required changes and or updates to the relevant work instructions; and promote and maintain compliance at all times to all Drive Management Systems.
