TAP ROOM TEAM MEMBER

Gloucester Brewing Company is seeking an enthusiastic, passionate, and customer service focused tap room employee to join the GBC team.

The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of American beer culture, beer styles and history, and a thirst for knowledge of the beer making process. Tap Room Employees are responsible for providing tap room guests with exceptional customer service, thorough and accurate information on GBC brands, and an engaging, unique experience at all times when serving guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Serving GBC beer in a fashion that communicates the brewery’s passion for quality, innovation and customer service at all times.
  • Explaining GBC brands in an accessible, engaging way to guests both familiar and new to the brewery’s brands.
  • Pouring pints, samples, and flights for guests while ensuring no guest is over-served.
  • Controlling inventory by properly using POS software.
  • Ensuring cleanliness of all bar surfaces, tables, floors, restrooms, and all other Tap Room areas including outdoor spaces with great attention to detail.
  • Collecting, cleaning, and restocking of glassware.
  • Changing/recording kegs and understanding the draft beer system.
  • Maintaining an accurate, thorough, and working knowledge about our beer, our company and the local/regional/national craft beer scene that will be used to engage our guests.
  • Be able to describe the brewing process to guests.
  • Opening and closing the Tap Room by following written protocol and checklists.
  • Handling cash and credit card transactions in a responsible and accurate fashion at all times.
  • Reconciling a cash bank at the end of each day and ensuring that all transactions were recorded accurately.
  • Reporting any issues, concerns, or pertinent items to Tap Room Manager.
  • Communicating clearly and demonstrating willingness to help all team members.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by Tap Room Manager.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Serving or wait staff experience in the brewing industry.
  • Craft beer knowledge/experience a must.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays. Scheduling will be flexible, but weekend hours are required.
  • Able to lift and carry 40 pounds and move 165 pound kegs (with help).
  • Able to work in a standing position for long periods.
  • Must be able to crouch, bend, lift, climb, and reach.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION

Completion of Virginia ABC Responsible Sellers & Servers: Virginia’s Program (ABC RSVP) within 14 days of hire.
