Mission
EdAdvance is one of Connecticut's six Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs). Our mission as the RESC in western Connecticut to is to promote the success of area school districts and their communities. EdAdvance is also a partner in the RESC Alliance and works collaboratively with the other RESC groups to support state-wide initiatives. In addition, EdAdvance operates five specialized school programs for students who are requiring educational placement outside of their district.

Teacher/Literacy Specialist
BASES (Before and After School Extended Services)
Part Time/Academic Year
1 Year Grant (2022-2023 SY)
$30.00/hour
Anticipated hours: 2 hours per week (1.5 hours per day x 1 day per week, plus . 5hrs planning time) after school.

Major Responsibilities:

• Implement State Department of Education After School Grant funded literacy curriculum/activities (grades K-6) with in existing afters school program.
• Assist with data collection as required by grant (i.e. activity, attendance, pre/post student surveys as needed).
• Coordinate with BASES Administrators on timelines and activities to meet grant requirements.
• Create a connection between school (curriculum) and after school program (curriculum).

The Teacher/Literacy Specialist works under the supervision of the BASES Administration Team. The position is located in the EdAdvance BASES (Before and After School Extended Services) after school program within the school district.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Education required, Literacy focus preferred
• Valid CT Teacher Certification required: 305 Elementary Grades 1-6
• Experience with Literacy curriculum
• Knowledge of state and Common Core Standards in Literacy
• High degree of energy & enthusiasm for working in a well rounded after school program setting

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand for entire shift and move through program space (indoor and outdoor) with students.
