JOB SUMMARY:

The Teaching Partner is a member of the classroom instructional team that provides an inclusive early childhood educational environment that is family-centered and utilizes developmentally appropriate practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be

  • Communicate with respect and tact with children, families, staff, professionals, volunteers, and trainees
  • Communicate, problem solve and collaborate as part of the classroom instructional team
  • Ability to document observations of children

Implement lesson plans that follow the Siskin Model and are developmentally appropriate

  • Comply with Tennessee Child Care Licensing rules and regulations
  • Understands and implements Iters/Ekers indicators every day
  • Coordinates with lead teacher and related service providers to ensure data collection and implementation of goals and objectives
  • Is an active participant in integrated therapy
  • Understands and implements all elements of the Siskin Model
  • Engages children in play and uses incidental teaching skills
  • Is an active participant in family style dining
  • Improves teaching skills based on checklist feedback data
  • Collaborates with related service providers and lead teacher to makes modifications and adaptations to the curriculum in order for all children to participate including assistive technology, adaptive equipment and other technology
  • Prioritizes and organizes duties to achieve timely, accurate completion of tasks
  • Participates in professional development opportunities
  • Informs the lead teacher, nurse and/or ELC Director of any unusual incidents, injuries or significant changes concerning the children and families
  • Responsible for the safety of the children
  • Responsible for the implementation of positive behavior support strategies with all children
  • Must have absolute integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality of all aspects of the job and protect the rights and dignity of stakeholders
  • Performs routines of feeding, toileting and playing with the children
  • Daily cleaning of classroom equipment
  • In the absence of the lead teacher, carry-out all classroom responsibilities as directed by lesson plans and classroom schedules

Medium = Lifting 25 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting/carrying 25 lbs.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Child Development Associate credential or higher
  • Experience in caring for children preferred

  • Exhibits excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, families, staff, professionals, visitors, trainees, and volunteers
  • Maintains accurate, timely and effective documentation
  • Exhibit knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices for young children
  • Ability to take directions with a positive attitude and promote a nurturing environment for all children
  • Arrive at work on time and follow call in procedures when unable to report to work
