Job Summary:
Support and facilitate all technical requirements daily to fulfill the needs of SMC’s customers and employees.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct daily production activities on the production floors.
  • Attend scheduling meeting if applicable.
  • Coordinate team with scheduling, tool room, and maintenance resolution of daily production issues and needs.
  • Ensure jobs are set up and running efficiently and within BOM parameters.
  • Perform set-ups, start-ups, and troubleshoot production jobs as required.
  • Establish a daily plan with the Shift Supervisor on the required work to be completed.
  • Daily changeover with the previous Technical Lead, where applicable, to discuss issues and upcoming changes.
  • Assist Supervisor on daily performance and attendance issues.
  • Assist Supervisor on identifying training needs with technical and training leadership.
  • Provide training or set up appropriate training when identified.
  • Participate in cost savings activities within the technical department.
  • Coordinate coverage for vacations and absences for the technical resources on your shift.
  • Conduct performance reviews with your direct reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma/GED.
  • Five or more years of experience in Injection molding/manufacturing.
  • Ability to direct multiple employees to accomplish the daily goals of the production groups.
  • Strong technical skills and aptitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct training.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead in stressful situations.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Supervision of technical resources.
  • Technical skills in both molding and automation.


ADA Requirements:

  • Stand, walk, bend, squat, twist, reach or otherwise move frequently
  • Occasional repetitive motion and grasping
  • Occasional climbing to reach areas on machines or racks
  • Lift, move or otherwise transfer up to 50 lbs. occasionally, >20 lbs. frequently
  • Typically sits, grasps items or performs keyboarding for occasional operation of a computer
  • Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards which may require respiratory protection
