Position Purpose:_*
The Technical Trainer is responsible for providing EHR training and support to the clinical and non-clinical staff of East Valley Community Health Center to ensure appropriate use of the system by creating curriculum, implementing changes, and training/retraining as an ongoing process. They are also responsible for training users on existing and new systems and platforms that are implemented and used on a day to day basis. This position reports to the IT Manager.
MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops and prepares training materials, schedules, and conducts training on electronic health records system.
  • Training sessions are created to support optimal usage of the EHR System, to include workflow transformation, planning, design, testing, end user training, implementation support and adoption.
  • Provides technical training for use of other systems in the environment, including but not limited to population health management software, Zoom, MS office, phone system, and navigating the internal network and cloud environment etc.
  • Responsible for enforcing clinical workflow through new users training and ongoing training.
  • Develops and prepares training materials and training schedules and conducts training for East Valley Community Health Center employees.
  • Responsible for developing and regularly updating NextGen knowledgebase that the organization can use and reference for issues.
  • In collaboration with the EHR & Quality Improvement team the trainer keeps current on system changes and updates training sessions and materials as needed.
  • Provides on-boarding training for new users and maintains ongoing training programs for existing users for EHR & IT software.
  • Provides technical support for users escalated by MTS.
  • Assists QI department in developing trainings that adopt changes from PDSA cycle.
  • Works with QI department to develop training to address non-compliance with workflows.
  • Utilizes existing audit, reporting, and survey results to identify training needs and opportunities to improve.
  • Participates in meetings as assigned by the IT Manager
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the related field or 4 years of experience in lieu of the degree.
  • Knowledge of Nextgen EHR, EPM and ICS.
  • At least 1 year of experience using NextGen 5.8 or above is preferred
  • 3+ years training on an EMR platform is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a primary care setting.
  • Knowledge of clinical workflow and a basic understanding of clinical terminology.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with physicians and other clinical staff, and to interact positively and productively with teams.
  • Ability to travel to multiple office locations.
