JOB SUMMARY:

Provide superior customer service by performing a variety of clerical duties primarily pertaining to handling customer transactions.

DUTIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

• Maintain a friendly demeanor while providing our customers with helpful, courteous service in accordance with the Bank’s customer service program.
• Engage in active listening with customers, confirming and clarifying needs
• Command of the English language in written and verbal communication
• Work at maximum efficiency to process customer transactions as quickly and accurately as possible, while recognizing the customer’s needs and provide appropriate customer service.
• Identify a customer’s need for additional services, transfers them to the sales staff and assumes a sales responsibility or philosophy to enhance branch and bank wide goals.
• Provide cross selling for Savings, Loan, Trust, and Infinex.
• Must be knowledgeable of the Bank’s products, proficient in their technical tasks and skilled in satisfying customer service and sales needs.
• Open participation in the Bank’s STAR program with a goal of 80% success after first year.
• Cash customer checks.
• Take in and process, via a computer terminal, deposits, transfers, and withdrawals for various types of accounts through personal contact, mail or night drop.
• Take in and process, via a computer terminal, various loan payments.
• Redeem savings bonds and certificates of deposit.
• Sell bank checks, savings bonds and travelers cheques.
• Process Cash advances for Visa/Mastercard.
• Maintain adequate cash amounts in drawer by buying and selling, as necessary, from Head Teller (or DeLaRue where applicable).
• Balance and reconcile cash drawer daily.
• Resolve routine account problems or refer to appropriate personnel.

Other Teller assignments may include:

• Counting and banding cash and coin shipments (if applicable to branch).
• Reconcile branch's daily bank checks.
• Balance ATM daily and assist with night drop vault.
• Responsible for handling spare cash vault (buying/selling cash to Tellers), if applicable to branch
• Balance Consolidated Sheet via Excel spreadsheet
• Verify signatures and process "on us" checks.
• Travel to other branches as needed.
• Train new tellers as assigned by Head Teller.
• Perform other similar duties as required, or requested by supervisor.

Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 20lbs
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to work Saturdays
• If needed, must be able to travel between branches
• Demonstrate a sound level of cultural competence, communicating with a diverse customer base
• Exhibit a robust level of quality customer service
