Job purpose

The successful candidate will play a fundamental role in achieving individual and company sales goals. As a member of our Field Sales Team, the Territory Manager travels to our customers’ retail locations on a daily basis. Direct selling is completed through utilization of customer POS systems to enhance category performance, as well as, leveraging relationships in the field and providing replenishment, inventory management and merchandising support. Top candidates will have experience in the Fishing industry in either the retail or wholesale areas. Lastly, the rep will need to live in the market.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Executing account direction which includes: completing store sets and resets, managing inventories, building in-store features, and promotional planning (customer events).
  • Presenting endcaps, promotions, flyers, etc.
  • Communicating with Big Rock Sales Management & Account Executives regarding account activity, directional changes, customer feedback, & business enhancement opportunities.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships at all levels of each account including Market Managers, District Managers and Regional Vice Presidents.
  • Planning and adhering to itineraries, as well as, completing call reports and related documentation.
  • Depending on the territory, you may be required to also develop business relationships with independent dealers in the area as well as manage customer needs, writing orders, to name a few expectations.

Qualifications

  • Must reside within the territory (no relocation available).
  • In depth knowledge of and passion for the fishing and hunting categories, as well as, extensive familiarity with the area’s fisheries and seasons.
  • Proficient in MS Office, email, learning new software applications, and leveraging technology to drive the business.
  • Strong customer focus, high energy, a professional demeanor, integrity, and a high-degree of flexibility, and responsiveness.
  • Excellent internal and external relationship-building skills, coupled with an ability to adapt and optimize communication style, as necessary to achieve desired results.
  • A self-motivated and self-directed personality with a strong team orientation, who can succeed working independently in the field.
  • Business savvy, creativity, and the ability to sell, influence and negotiate in a professional manner.
  • Valid Driver’s License, insurance, and reliable vehicle required.
  • Willingness and ability to sustain a daily travel schedule to effectively manage the territory with periodic overnights as required.
  • Strong attention to detail including accurate data entry and mathematical computation skills.

Compensation:

Base Salary + Commission

Education/Experience:

  • High school or equivalent secondary education diploma (Associates Degree preferred).
  • Three years recent retail sales/management experience and strong merchandising skills within the mass market segment.

Physical requirements

  • Physical capabilities associated with setting stores and stocking shelves, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds Must be able to perform work that involves standing, walking, and bending for a minimum of eight hours.
  • Must be able to sustain long periods of driving.
